Mediterranean: Short Italia Cinema

This year we have the privilege of collaborating with an exceptional festival, the Corto Italia Cinema International Short Film Festival of the city of Siena. Since its beginnings in 1996, this festival has indisputably become one of the leading short film festivals in Italy, and by extension in the entire Europe Mediterranean region. Which is to be expected given that its artistic director and coordinator is the great veteran Piero Clemente, whom we were lucky enough to have on the International Jury last year.

When Almería en Corto proposed this collaboration, Clemente's response was enthusiastic. He immediately got started on putting together a session that would satisfy everyone's tastes and went through all the best Mediterranean short films to pass through Siena.

For this reason we will get the chance to see Javier Fesser’s Oscar-nominated short film Binta y la gran idea, a magnificent view of adolescent confusion, the Israeli Zohar; Italian short film had to be included and out of Clemente’s extensive productions, he has selected La Lettera and Sotto le foglie; and two examples of splendid animation: the French La révolution des crabs and that little jewel from Portugal (a country with Iberian roots, and therefore Mediterranean ones), História trágica com final feliz. A splendid session inviting us to travel to the beautiful city in Tuscany.
